It is so lovely to have Barbury Horse Trials back in the calendar and we enjoyed a wonderful weekend there in March with some very exciting horses for the future. I was ridiculously proud of Chanuck Z (Tommy), who competed in his first Novice. He jumped round so bold and brave. There were a few green distractions but with more mileage he has it all, in all 3 phases!
Following Barbury I gave Tommy a run back at BE100 at Calmsden. He was an absolute star, winning on his dressage score of 19.3. He’s a stallion with the most wonderful temperament, incredible scope and love for the job – small but mighty!
Next stop was Cirencester Park, where new ride Galileo Skywalker had a great outing. He showed that he is really improving in the white boards and followed up with a brilliant double clear. He is super bold and loves this sport!
CHF Captain Jacob was also happy to be out! He delivered a nice test for a score of 32 but there’s always improvements to be made. He pinged his way around the show jumping and galloped and jumped around the cross country to come home just a few seconds over the time to finish 6th.
New ride, Primitive Funtime’s test showed some tension but some great bits, as we get to know each other. There were a few poles in the show jumping BUT a super clear cross country, giving me a wonderful ride and the feeling of building the partnership.
So wonderful having all the horses owners there to watch and support and a pretty epic support crew too – with the best cupcakes ever! A big Thank You so much for the hard work of everyone involved in the team both at home and at events, particularly Mum for enduring the early starts with me and perfecting those plaits!! Along with everything else! The horses are looking and feeling amazing.
