Barbury Castle International

What a great time at Barbury Castle International horse trials, such a brilliant event, huge thanks to the massive team involved and volunteers who make it happen! Was lovely to catch up with so many friends and have a great support team!
The ponies were pretty mega too...

Cruise On Inny, did a lovely test but with two costly mistakes, put down to his new found love of flying changes, scoring 53. He show jumped well and just an unlucky rail early on in the course. He stormed round the XC making it feel super easy. A great run ahead of his advanced debut next.Trendy Captain Clover did an accurate test and there will be even more to come from him for higher marks, but unfortunately a fairly harsh score of 55. He then went on to jump his 6th consecuative D/C At Intermediate/2*, at only 7yo there is lots of exciting things to come from him. Next stop Hartpury CCI**.

Interlaken W also performed like a pro in the BYEH 4yo class, with a consistent dressage test. He enjoyed the jumping, going clear and scoring well and also scoring well for confirmation and suitabilty.

Day 1 with the Intermediate boys saw positive but mixed results across the board.

Silver Lining X certainly getting the hang of this dressage malarki, scoring a respectable 33. He went on to jump a classy clear round in a troublesum SJ course. He flew around the XC, jumping out of his stride and loving it, jumping well through the tricky combinations but saddly caught out 3 from home. Jumping very well into the water we had a slight miscommunication at the C element. A really frustrating 20 which he really didn't deserve after jumping so well around the rest. Still only a 7yo and recently upgraded, the future ahead is so exciting!

Echo P did some lovely posh trotting for a harshly marked test of 34. He then went on to SJ with an un- characteristic 3 rails down. Pulling off a shoe just before going in possibly hindered our round. He was jolly and cheeky XC certainly loving it, a little too much on occasions, never the less a clear XC with a few detours costing us time faults. But he appeared to have got the hang of his nemesis corners and flew through the double of them! Undalgo De Windsor did a great test scoring 32, he went on to SJ following a long wait and was rather switched off, usually very careful he did not jump his best, resulting in somewhat of a cricket score but XC he flew round and jumped a great clear just adding time ready for his advanced debut at Aston.

Day 2 with the 'mini horses' saw consistency and a very exciting 6yo. Kingswalk Moonraker did his best pointy toes and scored and impressive 21.5 in the BE100. He had an unlucky rail and stormed round the XC to place 6th in a very competitive section. Not Dun Anything did a great consistent test for 28, he followed through with a lovely D/C and  finishing in 3rd place.

A Real Blast at only 6yo and fairly inexperienced showed her class today... well not so much in the dressage, where she is capable of a super smart test today she decided not to play ball. Never the less a sub 40! She made nothing of the novice SJ having just an unlucky rail and was glad to be jumping. A bold XC for a first timer and she flew, she certainly didn't realise she had been upgraded! A fab round despite a green 20 penalties at the skinny brush. A confidence BE100 run next then back to novice where I'm sure she will excel having learnt so much today.
