Highlights from Hartpury 3*L
August 12, 2025There is plenty to look forward to following Primitive Funtime’s run in the 3*L at Hartpury. He proved himself, like I knew he could!

What a feeling! Galloping around the Advanced track at Aston Le Walls with CHF Captain Jacob like the pro I’ve always known he is! Four years to the day that he arrived as a green just broken 4yo, he’s now bossing advanced level as an 8yo!
July began with a great 3* outing at Aston Le Walls for Primitive Funtime. I was delighted with how hard Baz tried in the dressage - he was rideable, soft and with me most of the way.
We treated ourselves to a show jumping outing in June, which I think we all enjoyed! CHF Captain Jacob is on flying form on the back of his run at Bicton and I had so much fun jumping big sticks with this legend!
What a week we enjoyed at Bicton in May, with CHF Captain Jacob (Arlo) showing once again what a superstar he is. He jumped clear round his second 3* L, making it feel like pony club!
It is so lovely to have Barbury Horse Trials back in the calendar and we enjoyed a wonderful weekend there in March with some very exciting horses for the future.
January has been and gone and the count down to the start of the event season is on! We’ve had a great month with the event horses coming back into work and some great showjumping results for the younger horses.
As the year comes to a close, I want to extend my warmest Christmas wishes to all my friends, supporters, and everyone who has been part of this incredible journey.
And there we have it... the end of the event season 2024! Chanuck Z loved his final run of the year at Swalcliffe Park, producing a great double clear in the BE100.
What a great way to finish a sensational season for our special boy, CHF Captain Jacob. He put in a brilliant performance at what is one of the most beautiful events, Cornbury Horse Trials.
Hartpury International 3*L was a real treat with the most special little horse that tried his very hardest in all three phases. Arlo may only be a 7-year-old, but he learnt so much in the best company and loved the whole experience.
July has proven to be a month full of progress, especially for the young ones just starting their journey.
We had a fab time at Aston le Walls International, competing in the 3*S with 7-year-old CHF Captain Jacob. He really consolidated his intermediate and 3*S form ahead of his big goal of Hartpury 3*L in August.
I was so pleased to have such a great run with Chanuck Z at our local event, taking the win in the BE90 Open at Ascott under Wychwood with a 28 dressage and fabulous double clear.
One of the most rewarding things over the last few months has been seeing my gorgeous 5-year-old loving his eventing… and he’s pretty good at it too! He’s had 3 runs and 3 double clears, each with nice tests!
What a journey it has been so far with Arlo (CHF Captain Jacob), owned by Jane Blakesly Grimes.
If April sets the tone for the rest of the season, we will definitely be happy with that! There was plenty of potential on display, especially from the young horses.
After a busy February, producing the young horses on a daily basis and with the competition horses back in work, it was then all focus on up-and-coming BS shows and the first event of the season!
After lovely yet somewhat busy and hectic Christmas with family and friends, it was back in the full swing of things for January.
As we count down towards the big day, Christmas has come early for me with a delivery of fabulous new branded kit
