It certainly took its time, but I consider myself incredibly lucky — although, at the time, it definitely didn’t feel that way!
After a long few months recovering, I was finally excited to be back out at an event and, more importantly, actually riding myself this time!
Back in Action
30th May – Solihull BE100
My first event back was with the lovely six-year-old CHF Ballyturn Cruise in the BE100.
A really lovely double clear, with his dressage continuing to improve. It was so good to be back out there doing what I love, and Cruise certainly made the comeback even more enjoyable.
Cruise then continued with a number of BE100 runs, giving us the opportunity to consolidate everything and gain some valuable miles under our belts.
He has produced some super XC runs and is really starting to feel more grown-up and stronger in himself. He is going to take time to mature and fully develop, but I genuinely believe he could be a future 4* horse and more in time to come.
He has a huge movement, is ridiculously bold and absolutely loves his job — so for now, we just need to keep developing him and, most importantly, maintain that enthusiasm!

Meanwhile, Bert has continued to have lots of fun with Chanuck Z.
They have been a brilliant combination and have continued to clock up some fantastic results:

They also achieved their 2*S MER, which was a fantastic milestone for them both.
And then another win at Aston Le Walls – Intermediate Novice:

It has been so lovely watching Bert and Tommy continue to develop their partnership while I was sidelined, and I couldn't be happier with how they have done.
But now I’m very happy to be back in the saddle myself, and I’m excited to see what the rest of the season brings!
After everything that happened at the start of the year, it feels pretty special to be back out competing, enjoying the horses and looking forward to the next chapter.
