What a privilege it was to have my super stallion, Chanuck Z, take part in the stallion show at Burghley 5*! Although we weren’t competing, it was fantastic to bring him to such a prestigious event and show off his class and all the wonderful attributes he has to offer as a breeding stallion.
He may only stand at 16hh, but he certainly doesn’t know that! He embraced the crowds just as I knew he would, performing beautifully in the dressage and jumping with real quality. He has so much scope and presence, combined with a lovely bold attitude and, most importantly, the most incredible temperament.
Having owned Tommy, as he’s known to his friends, since he was just two and a half years old, it was particularly special to be there with him at Burghley. It’s always lovely to reflect on how far you’ve come together, and to have the opportunity to show him off on such a stage was a real highlight.
Tommy has had a fantastic season competing with my great friend Roberto Scalisi while I’ve been off injured. Together, they’ve picked up wins at Novice and Intermediate level, achieved his 2*S MER and secured some other top-ten placings. I’m so grateful to Roberto for doing such a brilliant job with him.
I’m now taking back the reins and am really looking forward to heading to Osberton International 2*L with Tommy. I can’t wait to get back out there with him!
A big thank you to Nicky Kavanagh and The Juniper Co. for producing such fantastic stud cards, which really showcase all his wonderful qualities.
Here’s a little look at Tommy in action at Burghley!
