Christmas is just round the corner, so before we all get consumed in Christmas parties and wrapping paper, an update from Ginny’s winter progress is in order.
New ponies, puppies, sponsors and a lorry have all arrived in the yard throughout this autumn/winter period so it has certainly been a busy time for Ginny. Karen Huyton has given Ginny the ride on both Alfie and Justice who will both be showjumped and hunted this season and evented next season alongside Qwazy Jinx who has come from a showjumping background.
Ginny has being spending several days a week at Addington, as usual, and all the horses have enjoyed some pretty good successes:
Creeslough had his first time out since his injury at Barbury Castle and proved that he hasn’t lost an ounce of talent since then with a win and second place.
Belle III is on flying form with three consecutive wins at Addington. In the wet and windy arena eventing Belle put in a good performance despite not really appreciating the dressage after her previous successes. She made up for it in the jumping, doing yet another amazing double clear to finish in the prizes and be placed 5th.
New addition Qwazy Jinx has also been performing well with double clears in her classes. At the arena eventing she did a nice dressage test scoring 38 which Ginny was very pleased with considering she has only been doing dressage for the two weeks Ginny has had her. There’s a lot to work on for the next test to master staying round in transitions and not putting in flying changes everywhere. She was fantastic in the cross country and took to it like a pro, albeit slightly confused as to what she was expected to do at the logs resulting in two stops but then growing in confidence all the way round. It was clear that she knows her stuff in the showjumping as she did a lovely clear.
Then Sannan Valley Justice has loved the arena eventing proving himself in her first outing with Ginny in November’s arena eventing, achieving a 30 dressage and double clear to finish second. Ginny upgraded him in December’s arena eventing to the pre novice this time. She did a nice test after working in a little tense, but soon settled with the odd mistake. A fabulous cross country round followed without looking at a thing but rolling one poll early in the course. The showjumping was up to height and she jumped her socks off with just a 'green' four faults to finish sixth in her section.
Penskyber Poppy's Charm arena eventing outing was also very successful; she was well behaved in her test despite her usual behaviour giving her best performance yet. She got a little tight towards the end of the test but kept in a consistent outline and rhythm. Ginny and Poppy had a lot of fun in the cross country, flying round until she was spooked by the photographer resulting in a few faults. She tried so hard in the showjumping and jumped very nicely, sadly just rolling a pole by not quite making the distance and being a little free to an up-right.
